HypedAbout ("we," "our," or "us") operates the HypedAbout mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from the authentication provider. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive only a private relay address.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including restaurants you save, ratings you submit, and creators you follow. This data is stored in association with your account.
Location Data: The App may request access to your device's location to show nearby restaurants on the map. Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the App's core functionality
- To display your saved restaurants, ratings, and preferences
- To show personalized content such as nearby restaurants
- To aggregate anonymous hype scores and ratings for restaurants
- To improve the App and fix bugs
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with built-in encryption at rest and in transit. Supabase infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share anonymized, aggregated data (such as restaurant hype scores) publicly within the App. Your individual ratings are not publicly identifiable.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — account authentication
- OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — map display
- YouTube / TikTok / Instagram — embedded content links
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at phil@hypedabout.com.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing
